Origin and administrative structures

The Innova Program was created in 1998 by the firm commitment of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia to sensitize the university community of the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship for people, institutions and enterprises, and also to give support for all the innovative initiatives have arisen in the University that could lead to the creation of new businesses.

Technology-based businesses provide value added strategic importance in the GDP of a country and an important wealth for all its industrial network. As a major player in science and technology in Catalonia, UPC is committed to realize this wealth through companies created by the innovative program.

The Innova Programme is organized in a cross within the UPC.

The Program Director and promoter of Innova, Dr. Francesc Solé Parellada, ensures the representation of the project and consistency with parallel initiatives in the university, while spreading the goals and ideas drives the program to the estates of the Company and of the collaborating institutions.

Among them special thanks for the support received from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCYT) in the technological and Information Center and Business Development (CIDEM) in the field of economic promotion.

The team behind small but dynamic, initiates and coordinates the work of spreading the spirit of enterprise and monitoring of entrepreneurial projects in the UPC building human and intellectual resources of the UPC, and pipelines. It also facilitates cooperation among all university bodies and external institutions, and national and international projects.

The UPC, from the Innova Programme, is disclosed as a model for Entrepreneurial University.
